newletter jhlofWelcome to the latest update from JHLOF. 2025 was a year of significant challenges and immense productivity. Thanks to your unwavering support, we continue our mission of delivering vital medical supplies and health services to Jamaica.

A Message from our Chair

Dr. Val Colington reflects on a productive 2025 and looks forward to a prosperous 2026. Our work remains vital, fuelled by ongoing monetary donations and contributions of healthcare equipment.

We have been working directly with hospital CEOs in Jamaica to purchase and deliver supplies where they are needed most.

Fundraising Highlights

  • JHLOF Annual Charity Golf Day 2025
Our first-ever Charity Golf Day was held on June 6, 2025, at the Oaks Golf and Sports Centre. Despite a rainy start, the sun came out just in time for 47 players to tee off.
  • Special Thanks: To Levi Roots for his instrumental support and connection to the Black Golfers Association.
Impact: Proceeds were used to purchase essential medical supplies for Port Antonio Hospital in Portland.

  • Join us next year:
  • The 2026 Golf Day is scheduled for June 5, 2026.

 Hurricane Melissa Appeal

  • In October 2025, Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, caused devastating damage to Jamaica's Southwest coast.
  • Your Generosity: You helped us exceed our £7.5K target, allowing us to support the worst-hit facilities: Savanna la Mar, Falmouth, and Black River Hospitals.

  • Community Heroes: Shout out to Libby of LIBEAUTI Hair and Beauty Salon for raising £710, as well as alumni groups and GP practices in Purley and London.

2025 Donations & Impact

We remain committed to improving patient care through targeted donations.

  1. January 2025: Shipped rehabilitation equipment (crutches, walkers, Zimmer frames) and incontinence supplies.
  2. Direct Support: Provided Port Antonio Hospital with patient monitors, pulse oximeters, suction machines, and more.

  3. Field Hospitals: Black River Hospital is currently operating out of a 30-bed Emergency Field Hospital established by Samaritan’s Purse.
